Trying to determine if my new 2TB HD is actually DOA or not, as my disk clone attempts have now failed 4 times in a row...

Kinja'd!!!

It IS a FireCuda... Still chances of out of box failure are pretty damn low.

The FireC uda is intended to replace my internal 1TB WD Blue, but is c urrently hooked up via a SCSI-enabled USB3 to SATA adapter. Boot drive is a separate 256GB M.2 SSD.

I would if no other option presents itself mount the 1TB using the USB to SATA adapter.  If it has fails to work as expected you’ve found the issue.

Full erase and low level format completed with no errors when connected to the real SATA bus... Looks like I can blame the USB to SATA adapter... Now lets see if I can get the disk clone to work with the old 1TB drive connected to the adapter....
